Oct. 14 Meeting
Before our demonstrator performed, we discussed a variety of events including a planned "Small Works Show" for members in April at the Gallery at Patriot Place and the last "paint out" of the year, planned for this Saturday, Oct. 17, at Patriot Place. Also, since our Treasurer, Paula DePierro has relocated to Middleboro, after more than 10 years, we need a new treasurer, along with a new Secretary to compile our minutes. Our next meeting is pushed back one week because of Veterans Day with the library being closed. Therefore, we will meet the 3rd Wednesday next month, Nov. 18.
Our meeting demonstrator was Kelley MacDonald, who painted a small acrylic of jelly doughnuts while the audience salivated. She claimed these small paintings, along with those of drinks, were popular among the buying public. She talked while she painted and was a big hit.

Walpole Libray
There are 2 events of interest scheduled at the Walpole Library. The first is Tuesday evening, Sep. 8, at 7 pm, when there will be a presentation of the art of Henri Matisse by docent Beth Knaus. Matisse was a French painter who died in 1959. He is known for his revolutionary use of color and draftsmanship.
The second event, scheduled for Saturday afternoon, Oct. 3, at 1 pm is a presentation of how to "Enhance Your Creativity in Art" by Marilyn Z. Kahn. Members who have stared at a blank canvas too long may be interested.
These are both free events open to all. The Walpole Library is located at 143 School Street in Walpole, but it is easier if you park in the lot behind the library on Stone Street -- just beyond the Fire Station and Blackburn Hall.

Lighthouse invitation
The Walpole Library invites artists to hang their painting or a photo of a Lighthouse in its Community Room during the month of August. The only requirement is it be framed and wired for immediate hanging. Delivery will be Monday, Aug. 3, between 4 and 6 pm during which time it will be hung. Anyone with questions, or is not able to deliver at that time, should contact Frank Quinn at (508) 668-7031 or fxquinn@yahoo.com.
There is an expert on New England lighthouses who will be speaking at the Walpole Library Thursday evening August 13 at 7 pm. And since all artists have at least one lighthouse, it is probably time people got to see it. Especially when there will be an expert talking about them!
You can then pick up your painting (or photo) on Monday, Aug. 31, 4-6 pm.
